Understanding ADHD

Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a disability characterized by underdeveloped motivational/reward pathways, leading to an undeveloped prefrontal cortex. People with ADHD commonly struggle with goal-motivated behaviors, task-initiation, task-switching, and followthrough. ADHD can present differently based on socio-cultural identity characteristics. People often refer to ADHD based on the 3 different subtypes people present as, which are inattentive, hyperactive, and combined.
